Max Smith’s entire legal practice is devoted to the representation of management in employment law matters including litigation and day-do-day counsel. Max represents companies spanning a broad array of industries including healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing, and has helped his clients successfully resolve both litigation and charges before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. Federal employment law claims Max has handled on behalf of clients include alleged violations of Title VII, the ADA/ADAAA, the ADEA, the FMLA, and the FLSA. He has also represented clients in charges of violations of the Tennessee Human Rights Act, the Tennessee Disability Act and the Tennessee Public Protection Act.
Prior to joining FordHarrison, Max spent several years as an associate in the employment law practice group of a large Nashville-based general practice firm. While in law school, Max served as Senior Editor for the Alabama Law Reviewand was the recipient of the Hugo L. Black scholarship. Before attending law school, Max was a journalist, covering police and crime stories in Mobile, Alabama for the Press-Register, Alabama’s oldest newspaper.
